"The Letter"

As we head into the un-offical end of summer we are blessed to welcome Pastor Lisa Williams of the United Methodist Church of San Pedro to our garden sanctuary as our guest preacher.

Lisa Williams is a passionate activist for our un-housed neighbors. She is the pastor at San Pedro United Methodist Church.

Lisa is a visionary who likes to think outside of the box. Under her leadership the church secured monthly mobile showers, created the Children’s Christmas Shopping Spree and partnered with Family Promise to create a Respite Center for unhoused families. Involvement with Family Promise resulted in Lisa and her church imagining the possibility of building affordable and permanent supportive housing on church property which is currently in the planning and funding stage. Lisa is chair of Harbor Neighborhood Relief Fund. She sits on the advisory board for Toberman Neighborhood Center, is a member of the Faith Collaborative to End Homelessness in partnership with LAHSA and the County of Los Angeles and serves on the Quality-of-Life Committee for the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce. Lisa was the 2019 Woman of the Year reciprocate for the Los Angeles County Commission on Woman representing the 4th

Supervisorial District, Supervisor Janice Hahn. Lisa enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, including their two chocolate labs. Pastor Lisa happens to also be one of Connie and Rev. Amanda's favorite Pastors to minister with.

Pastor Lisa will be preaching from the biblical book Philemon. Please join us in welcoming this dear friend of The Garden Church and neighbor.

In Faith,

Rev. Amanda
