Our beautiful sanctuary still has a "green carpet" of little sprouts thanks to the rain earlier this month. We are still praying for more rain as the winter months wear on and the plants grow thirsty. Our partner organization Feed and be Fed has been busy with both the farm growing more and more at the Science Center. The increased growing thanks to volunteers and student staff thanks to a grant from the California Department of Agriculture which also allowed the CSA farm boxes to get going. You can learn more here. Feed and be Fed is also half way through the Garden Labs. Garden Lab is a program for more than 100 fourth grade students at Taper Elementary, which is walking distance to the science center.
In just one week we will begin the church season of Lent. Lent is a reflective season focused on spiritual preparation for the celebration of Easter (April 20th). On Wednesday, March 5, 2025 we will hold our annual Ecumenical Ash Wednesday Service at noon in the garden, followed by offering ashes to the community. All Are Welcome.
With Lent beginning next week this Sunday is the last Sunday before Lent begins and we will read the traditional texts associated with this Sunday which are the story from Exodus about Moses' face shining and the story from Luke about Jesus' transfiguration. Join us as we spend time studying the Lord's Word.
In Faith,
Rev. Amanda
