On Sunday we happily moved our worship inside (thanks to our good neighbors at the Annex) due to rain. We are all exceedingly grateful that after 9 months rains have returned to the area. The fires are nearly completely contained and the rains did not result in additional damage to the fire affected areas. We are grateful that our prayers have been answered. We expect to be able to return to our door worship in the garden this weekend.
February will bring some exciting things to the garden including the Annual Souper Bowl of caring. This event is a partnership with Blend and Be Friend and Bluewater Pottery. You can learn more here. We are also looking forward to joining Temple Beth El in the annual celebration of Tu Bishvat (the new year of the trees) on Thursday, November 13th. Also this month we're starting up a book group which will meet in person at the church office on the 3rd Thursday each month at 7pm. Our first book is "Saving Us" by Katharine Hayhoe.
Comedian Ellen DeGeneres has a bit she does about the word "Honestly." She thinks it's funny when people begin to say something by saying "Honestly..." she jokes, "no, please just lie to me, I prefer dis-honesty." We say this when we're going to deliver some information which may not be easy to hear. Because it's not always easy to speak truthfully in a loving and kind way. This Sunday we're gong to spend some time continuing last week's story of Jesus in the temple from the Gospel of Luke and some time in 1 Corinthians on the topic of love.
We hope to see you in the garden soon!
In Faith,
Rev. Amanda
