"Earth and Order"

Writer's picture: The Garden ChurchThe Garden Church

It is Lent! Yesterday marked the beginning of the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday. A time to gather, read scripture, recall our mortality and our need for God. This season of 40 days (without including Sundays) is a time when Christians the world over spend time preparing our hearts to celebrate again the Easter miracle of Jesus' triumph over death.

This lenten season the Garden church is centering itself in two ways. First our worship theme is "A Time to Grow: from Garden to Table." Inspired by a book of the same title by Kara Eidson. The series walks us though common scripture readings for the season of lent and connects the readings with necessities of gardening and life lessons. This Sunday the focus is on order, God's order of creation, the need for order in gardening and the benefit of order in our personal and spiritual lives.

Second the Garden Church as a community is reading though the Gospel of Luke this Lenten Season. Beginning Monday 3/7 we will read together 4 chapters each week. As you read you are encouraged to reflect on the readings, journal, pray, draw or whatever feels right. The goal is to spend more time this season in the Lord's Word as we prepare our hearts, minds, bodies and Spirits for Easter.

May you all grow closer to our Lord in this season.

In Faith,

Rev. Amanda

What We mean when We say All Are Welcome:

At The Garden Church we intentionally welcome all. We do this without requiring adherence to any religious belief or creed. We foster a climate of purposeful inclusion, an environment where all can feel safe, valued, cared for, and given an opportunity to form meaningful connections with the Divine and each other. We cherish the diversity of humanity, a diversity which includes differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, and national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, and political perspective.

We are also a member Congregation of the Pacific Coast Association of the Swedenborgian Church of North America
