Bold Faith

Writer's picture: The Garden ChurchThe Garden Church

As we slowly slide into summer the evidence is all over the garden. Tiny squash and zucchini, tomatoes ready to be planted and the first strawberry is turning red. It is an exciting time of the year as we look towards the flourish of growth the warm months promise.

In this lead up to summer at the Garden Church we are continuing our sermon series on healing. This week we will take a closer look at the story of the woman from Canna found in the gospel of Matthew. She like the woman we studied two weeks ago with the issue of blood actively sought healing.

We as individuals and as a Nation are in need of healing too. Last weekend we saw not one but two deadly shooting incidents, both have now been determined to be motivated by hate of another race or country of origin. The first in New York in a grocery store, the second here in Southern California at a Church Luncheon. Things are heavy right now. Healing from all the trauma we have been through collectively and individually is important for us all. Reaching out for healing in the midst of times like this requires bold faith. Join us Sunday as we spend time with a woman from scripture of bold faith. And maybe find a path to some healing for ourselves.

In Faith,

Rev. Amanda

What We mean when We say All Are Welcome:

At The Garden Church we intentionally welcome all. We do this without requiring adherence to any religious belief or creed. We foster a climate of purposeful inclusion, an environment where all can feel safe, valued, cared for, and given an opportunity to form meaningful connections with the Divine and each other. We cherish the diversity of humanity, a diversity which includes differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, and national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, and political perspective.

We are also a member Congregation of the Pacific Coast Association of the Swedenborgian Church of North America
