This Sunday we are fortunate to Welcome Rev. Joshua Yee. Rev. Yee is the pastor of St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church in Rolling Hills Estates. us Studies, and received his Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2012. Joshua has been in ministry for over 17 years, serving churches throughout Torrance and Palos Verdes Peninsula, including South Bay Presbyterian Church, St. Peter’s by the Sea Presbyterian Church, several Korean American churches, and is currently the Senior Pastor at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church. Joshua was ordained in the PCUSA in 2014 and has since served as Vice-Moderator, Moderator, and Chair of the Coordinating Commission for both the Pacific Presbytery and the Synod of Southern CA and Hawaii. He has served on various other Presbytery and Synod committees, focusing his efforts on supporting fellow colleagues, promoting interfaith and ecumenical dialogue, and establishing partnerships with the community in working for inclusion, justice, peace, and equity. Joshua also has a breadth of experience as a hospital chaplain, having completed two years of residency at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center, and, for eight years, served as a Board-Certified Chaplain and as the Manager of the Spiritual Care Department at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital. As a chaplain, he provided spiritual and psychosocial support to patients, families, and staff, and was a frequent presenter at various hospitals, churches, and colleges on topics including religious tolerance, cultural competence and diversity, advance care planning, grief and loss, and bioethical principles. He is a certified LEAN leader, certified bereavement coordinator, and is trained in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, helping to combat compassion fatigue, burnout, and second victim trauma. He helped support countless bereaved families and healthcare professionals during the time of the pandemic and helped to establish hospital policies and procedures around mass causality, emergency preparedness, and post-mortem care for COVID-19 patients. Joshua comes from a large extended family and has been married to his beautiful wife, Jenna, for nine years. Together, they are cherishing every moment with their two-year old daughter, Brooklynn, and newborn son, Hudson. We are excited to welcome Rev. Yee to the Garden for our Perspectives sermon series.
